About The Deep Knowing

The Deep Knowing (TDK) is a living-breathing somatic practice and knowledge-hub. We are still learning how collective liberation ties into somatic liberation, so it is also a space of deep inquiry.

What started as a 1:1 coaching practice, has grown into a vibrant community, and a library of essays, talks, and courses on decolonized well-being. This is because healing doesn’t happens in isolation and is deeply relational. We got into this mess together, so the only way out is also together.

At the center of TDK lives a simple mission: Returning healing work and spaces back to their liberatory essence.

Reclaiming Healing

We are reclaiming a space taken over by “optimization”, productivity, “bio-hacking”, and regulation. Because healing and wellbeing were never meant to become a personal improvement project.

They have always been sacred practices, entrusted to the tender hands of embodied healers, poets, mystics, and weavers, and received by communities called into a collective mission.

Every time we heal something or unravel a knot, we are also healing whoever and whatever is connected to us. TDK invites us to find a place within that feels this interconnectedness, rooting in the ancient principle of reciprocity — I heal so you can heal, too.

About the founder

The Deep Knowing was founded by Tania S. Shoukair, after she managed to regenerate herself from burnout and inner-collapse.

Years of accumulated personal, systemic, and collective trauma and grief ended up costing Tania her health and career. The path forward was unclear, as she struggled to find spaces and specialists who understood her complicated and multicultural background, and her commitment to collective liberation.

Tania kept being told to “focus on herself” to heal, which didn’t align with her collective-focused culture or values. Tuning out of Western perspectives on healing, and tuning into her own Indigenous and ancestral wisdom, eventually led Tania to her own deep knowing. The same deep knowing she guides others towards.

Tania’s work is the confluence of everything she learned and lived through as an immigrant, queer, and BIPOC human. Navigating systems that were not designed to care for those who fall through the cracks of frameworks, procedures, and paperwork.

Her mission is to keep creating tender spaces of care and regeneration — the kind of spaces she longed for in her darkest moments, but couldn't find yet.

Our Pillars

Kinship

We got into this mess together, and the only way out of it is also together. When we relate, our relational field becomes our guide and teacher.

Context

Context sets the scene for practice, we do not make assumptions. We lean into and with instead of for. There is no saving or fixing  in our space.

Regeneration

Our work is not about offering hacks and shortcuts, it’s about regenerating what desires flow, and containing what needs resolution.

Curiosity

There is no absolute truth. There is no correct path or dogma. We approach any body of knowledge with curiosity, unless it directly promotes hate or harm.
