Last Call For This Week's Events, Free Care Resources, and More

Hello TDK enthusiasts,

How are you feeling with this looming new moon and solar eclipse?

Personally, I've had better days. The push and pull between what needs doing, and what needs to be undone, has been overwhelming for my system. Which is why I've been paying extra attention to the absolute basics, like healthy food, gentle movement, and small acts of micro-care.

So here is a little prompt in case you've been feeling a little undone, raw, or agitated:

" What one small act of kindness can I do for and with my body to support it through this phase?"

And if you need extra support, this week TDK is hosting two events that can help you feel anchored. You can also scroll to the very end for a free somatic care resource.

1. Workshops — Writing Circle

Last call to join: Embodied Lunar Writing (For FlINTA)

We will spend two hours together, moving from somatic meditation to embodied writing, and closing with group sharing. You don't need to be a writer or to have a background in somatics. All you need is curiosity.

This circle will invite the new moon energy in conjunction with the eclipse. Asking: How can we move from darkness to direction?

If you've been feeling stuck and unclear about the future, this is for you. Here is what others have to say about my writing circles:

" Absolutely loved the full moon writing workshop. The space was carefully and masterfully held. The somatic practices Tania facilitated helped to unlock some deep knowing(s) within... As well as release some emotions I didn't realize were there. Can't wait to participate in more!"

2. The Deep Dive — Episode 04 with Tala Sammur

The Deep Dive is a monthly gathering where I invite emergent voices working at the intersection of liberation, somatics, and worldbuilding.

In this episode, I will be interviewing Tala Sammur from The Resilience Project (TRP). TRP is a non-profit created to support changemakers and individuals through ecoanxiety, burnout, and the emotional and relational challenges of social justice organizing.

Tala is a Palestinian yoga instructor, somatics educator, and integrative psychotherapist-in-training. Her work brings together embodied practice, mental health, and activism, rooted in the belief that personal and collective liberation are inseparable.

Together, we will be talking about the importance of liberatory body-based practices, nervous system awareness, and relational capacity for conflict resolution and burnout prevention in movements.

3. Latest Publication from TDK — On Our Collective Addiction To Reason

Why all knowledge systems have value, but some are seen as more valuable.

My latest Substack article is an essay on why we dismiss mysticism and ritual when navigating through uncertainty, and why we double down on what we think is "logic".

We now know from science that rituals reduce stress. So where does this bias come from? And what can we gain from leaning into the unknown instead of leaning away from it when our systems are stressed?

4. Somatic Care Resource — Havening

Uses: For dissociation, numbness, grief, and overwhelm.
Time: 3-5 mins, or as long as you need.

Instructions:

  • Find a comfortable seated position and take a couple of aware breaths.
  • When you’re ready, wrap your arms around your upper body like you’re hugging yourself.
  • Slowly rub your hands against your upper arms by moving them up and down.
  • Close your eyes if it feels safe and natural.
  • You can also squeeze your upper body with your hands, or rock from side to side as you do this.

The motion, combined with touch and warmth, signals safety to your nervous system, and invites whatever part that left the body to feel the same to come back again.

Thank you for being part of the TDK. And if you ever feel like diving deeper, book a discovery session with me.

Take care of yourself and one another.

With care,

Tania S.

Your September Resources, What's New With The Deep Knowing, And More.
Hello dear reader, How have you been since we last touched base? I'm not going to pretend like it hasn't been a bit turbulent over here. Summer is slowly coming to an end in the Northern hemisphere, and as the temperature drops, I find myself in a more reflective and restless space.  In many cosmologies around the world, September is known as the harvest month. And although most of us no long...
